SB 649 -- GIRL SCOUT DAY
SPONSOR: Days (Brandom)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Tourism by a vote of 9 to 0.
This bill requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation
designating March 12 as "Girl Scout Day."
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that March 12, 2012, will be the
100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts and designating March 12 as
Girl Scout Day is one way to honor this venerable organization.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Days; and Carol Hansen, Girl
Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
